Best smartphones available under Rs 30,000: Read our list

Are you looking for a new mobile phone under Rs 30,000? Well, this is the perfect time to get your hands on a smartphone at this price. Right from Motorola, Poco, OnePlus, Realme, and Xiaomi, there’s a number of brands offering mid-range devices in this price segment. And, the good news is, most of them offer 5G support, which is a feature that might not be available in India at the moment but is something that is good to have.

Apart from 5G support, the smartphones in this price segment come with a decent camera setup with excellent sensors for photography and shooting videos. Moreover, the sub-Rs 30,000 price segment also brings faster-charging support, a feature that you won’t get on phones around Rs 20,000 or Rs 15,000.

Let’s start with our list of the best smartphones under Rs 30,000 this month.

Moto Edge 20

Motorola’s recently unveiled Moto Edge 20 is our first pick on this month’s list. It runs stock Android 11 out-of-the-box and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G processor. It packs 128GB of storage and comes with 8GB of RAM. The smartphone comes with a side-mounted fingerprint reader. Under the hood, the smartphone packs a 4000mAh battery with 30W TurboPower charging support. It features a 6.7-inch AMOLED Full-HD+ display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone supports a 144Hz refresh rate. The handset also comes with IP52 certification for water resistance. The smartphone’s biggest highlight is its 108-megapixel primary camera at the back. It comes with 5G support. The Moto Edge 20 is available in India at Rs 29,999.

Our verdict: The Moto Edge 20 sports a flat-edge design that works well for the device. The three big highlights of the device are its display, performance, and balanced design. The camera, however, could have been better, and the missing headphone jack may not be liked by many.

OnePlus Nord 2

OnePlus Nord 2 is again on our list of best phones under Rs 30,000. The smartphone is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI and runs on Android 11-based OxygenOS 11.3. The Nord 2 sports a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 2-megapixel mono camera. The handset also packs a 32-megapixel selfie camera. The smartphone packs a 4500mAh battery and comes with Warp Charge 65 support. It features a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with 1080×2400 pixels screen resolution with a 20:9 aspect ratio. The price in India starts at Rs 27,999 for the 6GB RAM model, while the 8GB comes at Rs 29,999.

Our verdict: The OnePlus Nord 2 is a great allrounder device and packs a fantastic processor for gaming. The handset offers an excellent premium feel and gives a solid battery life.

Poco F3 GT

The Poco F3 GT is the next smartphone on our list and comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 processor. Targeting gamers, the handset sports Maglev triggers on the side panel and comes with a 120Hz display panel. It packs a massive 5065mAh battery with 67W fast charging support. The Poco F3 GT supports 5G and offers dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos. The handset features a 64-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The Poco F3 GT also sports a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The smartphone is available in India at Rs 28,999.

Our verdict: The three things we liked about the Poco F3 GT are its premium design, responsive triggers that come in handy while gaming, and excellent battery performance. We would have loved it if the camera performed slightly better, while 3.5mm audio jack lovers would hate not finding it.

Realme X7 Max 5G

The Realme X7 Max 5G is the next smartphone in our list of top phones under Rs 30,000. It is powered by a Dimensity 1200 5G processor coupled with up to 12GB of RAM. The handset comes with up to 256GB of storage. It features a 6.43-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080×2400 pixels screen resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The handset supports 5G as well. It packs a 4500mAh battery and comes with 50W fast charging support. It sports a 64-megapixel primary camera along with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle and 2-megapixel macro lens. At the front, there’s a 16-megapixel in-display. The Realme X7 Max is available at Rs 26,999.

Our verdict: The Realme X7 Max is a great device for display, performance, speakers, and primary camera. However, the company still needs to fix the bloatware apps issue.

Mi 11X

The Mi 11X is the final entry on our list of best phones under Rs 30,000 in India this month. It comes with a good combination of specs and aggressive pricing. Powered by a Snapdragon 870 processor, the Mi 11X features a 6.67-inch AMOLED Full-HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The handset packs a 4520mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. It sports a 48-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 5-megapixel telemacro camera. The Mi 11X is available in India at a starting price of Rs 27,999 for the 6GB RAM model and goes up to Rs 29,999 for the 8GB RAM option.

Our verdict: The Mi 11X has three things that go in its favour, including good performance, excellent display, and decent battery life. However, the poor cameras and average speaker performance are big issues.
