Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi sells 2 lakh units of Mi Pad 5 within 5 minutes

Xiaomi is the top smartphone seller in India for nearly five years now. It has been dominating the smart TV category for the last few quarters, has strong presence in other segments like IoT and laptops. Maybe, it’s time to start looking at the tablet market or has the electronics maker completely given up on it? We know that tablets, as a category, have failed to take off in the Indian market largely because most users look at it as a luxury more than a necessity.

But, there are two reasons to believe that this is probably the best time for Xiaomi to enter this space. Firstly, it has just hit the ball out of the park with the launch of Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro both of which look strong competitors to Samsung Galaxy S series. The latter remains to be an undisputed choice in the Android space in India.

Xiaomi had launched the Mi Pad 5 series with flagship level specs in its domestic market earlier this month. The devices went on sale for the first time this week and were sold out within minutes. Xiaomi has sold around 200,000 units of the Mi Pad 5 series in five minutes. There were many others who couldn’t get their hands on the product or is accessories and have taken to social media platforms to complain about the same.
