Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that opposition parties must unite to fight the BJP and discussions are under way to determine the framework of a united front. The Congress leader made these remarks after meeting RJD leader Sharad Yadav.
“Opposition parties that are against RSS and Narendra Modi should come together. Discussions are ongoing on how they should come together, what should be the framework, and what has to be developed,” he said.
Talking about India’s present economic situation, Rahul Gandhi said on Friday, “You can’t imagine India’s economic situation and job condition. Never in your life would you have seen what was coming next. The employment structure of this country, its backbone, is broken. Small and medium businesses, small shopkeepers, and the informal sector are our backbone.”
“Economists and bureaucrats make their plans by looking at other nations. The PM says we’ve got to become like them. It can’t be done like that. First, we have to realise who we are and what’s happening here. They’ve broken the backbone. Terrifying results will come in the next 3-4 years,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP government of “spreading hatred and dividing the country”.
“Today, the country is in a very bad situation. Hatred is being spread and the country is being divided. We have to bring the nation together and walk on the path of brotherhood, which has been a part of our history,” he said.
Speaking about the ongoing crisis between Russia and Ukraine, Rahul Gandhi said, “Russia says that they don’t accept the territoriality of Ukraine, they don’t consider the Donetsk and Luhansk regions part of Ukraine. Russia attacked Ukraine on that basis. What is the aim? Breaking the alliance of Nato-Ukraine-US,” said Rahul Gandhi.
“China is applying the same principle to India. China is saying that Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh are not yours [India’s] and they have deployed their troops there. The government is ignoring this. But we have a model [Russia-Ukraine]. That model can be applied here too,” Rahul Gandhi added.
