Suzuki has introduced the 2021 GSX-S1000 for the international markets, and the litre-class Japanese naked roadster should arrive in India as well. While the launch details are not available yet, here we explain the motorcycle in finer details.

Design

Suzuki has heavily revised the styling of the GSX-S1000, and the new model looks aggressive than its predecessor. The styling cues on the 2021 mode, include a vertically-stacked headlight assemble that uses LED setup instead of the halogen unit on the discontinued version. The new headlight is flanked by a body-coloured mask.

The new GSX-S1000 also benefits from a larger, 19-litre fuel tank as against 17-litre unit on the old model which should deliver a higher range to the 2021 version. The fuel tank extensions and the radiator shrouds further enhance the sharp styling and the muscular look of the 2021 GSX-S1000. Other styling features include split-style seats, 17-inch alloy wheels, and a compact exhaust cannister. The 2021 model benefits from aerodynamic winglets that should deliver added downforce and improve stability at higher speeds.

Colours

Internationally, the 2021 GSX-S1000 is available in three colours – Metallic Triton Blue, Glass Matte Mechanical Gray, and Glass Sparkle Black.

Features

The motorcycle benefits from features such as full-LED lighting and an LCD screen. The Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) brings electronic rider aids such as Suzuki Drive Mode Selector, five-mode Suzuki Traction Control System, a bidirectional quickshifter, ride-by-wire throttle, low RPM assist, and Suzuki Easy Start System. The 2021 model also gets a new exhaust system.

Engine

The engine on the 2021 model is based on the GSX-R1000 K5. It does, however, gets several revisions to comply with the new emission norms. The Euro5-compliant 999cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine makes 150bhp at 11,000rpm, which is nearly 5bhp more than the older model’s 145bhp output. The motor is linked to a six-speed transmission. The gearbox benefits from Suzuki Clutch Assist System.

Hardware

The suspension setup on the 2021 Suzuki GSX-S1000 includes 43mm KYB inverted front forks and a rear mono-shock. The setup at the front is adjustable for damping, rebound, compression, and spring preload settings. The rear, on the other hand, can be adjusted for rebound damping and spring preload. The anchoring duties are performed by twin rotors with Brembo callipers at the front and a single disc with a Nissin calliper at the back.
