Hemant Soren rewarded Indian women’s hockey team players Nikki and Salima

In the midst of all the challenges in Jharkhand, the sons and daughters of Jharkhand are bringing laurels to the state and the country with their excellent performance in the world of sports. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said this while addressing a felicitation ceremony organized in honor of Salima Tete and Nikki Pradhan, who represented the Indian women’s hockey team at the Tokyo Olympics. The Chief Minister said that these two daughters of Jharkhand performed brilliantly in the Tokyo Olympics. The Indian women’s hockey team may have missed out on winning a medal, but the way they performed against the best hockey playing countries of the world, it is no less than a medal. The Chief Minister wished these daughters a bright future while congratulating them for the best sport.

The Chief Minister honored Nikki Pradhan and Salima Tete with a check of Rs 50 lakh each, a scooty each, a laptop and a smart phone. The Chief Minister said that the government would give a house of about three thousand square feet to both of them in the city as per their wish. The Chief Minister also said that these two daughters have made their place in the midst of limited resources, which is a great achievement. We are proud of our daughters. But, we have to take care of the game and the players with respect and sensitivity, so that they can perform better in future and the talented players can get inspiration from them.

The Chief Minister said that the state is now moving fast in the direction of making its own identity in sports as well. The government is taking steps in this direction in a phased manner in the interest of sports and players. This is just the beginning and it will accelerate further in the days to come. Sports officials were appointed for the first time after the formation of the state. Players who perform well in national and international competitions are being directly appointed. So far forty players have been given appointment letters. Players are being rewarded and felicitated. Sports grounds are being developed in every panchayat. AstroTurf stadiums are being built. Its purpose is that all facilities should be available to enhance the skills of sons and daughters here.
