Lucknow: Banks across Uttar Pradesh will now only be operating for four hours for its account holders. The decision was taken in a meeting of State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) conducted through video conferencing on Wednesday.
The SLBC is a state level body comprising of general managers and senior employees of public and private banks in UP. According to SLBC officials, the new timings will be from 10AM to 2PM for account holders, while banks will remain open till 4PM. The decision will be in place till May 15 and can be increased after assessing Covid situation in the state.
As a result, account holders will only have four hours in order to withdraw or deposit money in bank accounts, send drafts and cheque clearance among other things.
United forum of banks union (UFBU) spokesperson Anil Tiwari said, “The decision has been taken to ensure social distancing norms being followed among bank employees. Only 50% of the staff will allowed to perform their duties on rotation basis. The new rule will be implemented in all public and private banks from Thursday.”
The meeting was chaired by general manager of Bank of Baroda Brijesh Kumar among other senior officers of public and private banks.
