Ajinkya Rahane will be captain of Team India for the first Test against New Zealand in Kanpur beginning November 25. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced this decision on Friday (November 11) with vice-captain and new T20 skipper Rohit Sharma opting to miss both the Tests to take rest and Virat Kohli only available for the second Test.
“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked the squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand. Virat Kohli will join the squad for the second Test and will lead the team,” a BCCI release said.
