India’s Deepika Kumari became world number 1 after winning three gold medals

Indian archer Deepika Kumari won three gold medals with a stellar performance in the Archery World Cup (Stage 3) held in Paris on Sunday. After which she has reached the first position in the world ranking. Deepika won her third gold medal by defeating Russian player Elena Osipova 6-0 in the final round of the women’s individual recurve event. Earlier she also won gold medal in mixed round and women’s team recurve event. Deepika has won all these three gold medals in just five hours.

Earlier, at the age of just 18, Deepika has become the world number one player. Deepika, who has won 9 gold medals, 12 silver medals and seven bronze medals in World Cup competitions so far, is now eyeing the Olympic medal.

Deepika is going to Japan to participate in the Tokyo Olympics next month. The special thing is that she is the only woman in the archery team going from India.
