IPL 2022: Five wicketkeepers who can come in as replacement signings

3. Heinrich Klaasen

Much to a surprise for cricket experts and fans, South African wicketkeeper batter Heinrich Klaasen went unsold at the IPL 2022 mega auction. The right-handed batter had set a base price INR 50 lakh. Although Klaasen has a strike rate of more than 140 in the T20Is, none of teams showed interest in him.

The 30-year old batter knows how to finish the innings along with playing the anchor’s role if needed. Klaasen is also more than handy behind the wickets. He has been a part of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) camp in previous editions of the IPL. Talking about his IPL career, Klaasen has played seven IPL matches in which he has scored 66 runs with a strike rate of 115.

Speaking of his numbers in T20I cricket, Klaasen has managed to score 449 runs in 28 matches at a good strike rate of 142.08. The 30-year old has three fifties under his belt as well. IPL 2022 is set be played on batting friendly wickets, so Klaasen would a good option for franchises as an injury replacement.
