Piaggio India launched the new Aprilia SXR 125 maxi-scooter at Rs 1.14 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Based on the Aprilia SXR 160, the Aprilia SXR 125 is the more affordable of the two, and takes on the Suzuki Burgman 125 in the country. Bookings of the Aprilia SXR 125 are already underway at all Aprilia dealerships in the country
The Aprilia SXR 125 shares most of the design elements from its elder sibling, and yet holds on to its sporty credentials with Aprilia’s signature graphics paired with trim inserts along with dark chrome elements, honeycomb grille, air dams and chrome garnished exhaust. The sporty nature is complemented by the contours and sporty bumpers in front. The wraparound LED headlights are new, flanked by a front indicator blinker, and have a high-beam at the centre. The same design is carried to the back with LED taillights with integrated rear blinkers. The 5-spoke 12-inch alloy wheels look sharp and get red accents. Aprilia is offering the SXR 125 in three color schemes- Matt Black, Glossy White, Matt Blue and Glossy Red.
The dual telescopic front suspension and adjustable rear suspension are tuned for a smooth ride. The spacious bucket seats have leather with a special stitch pattern in grey and red threads. The rear passenger gets retractable footpegs, and thick raised grab rails. The underseat storage is said to be large enough to store a full-sized helmet. The 5.7-inch digital instrument panel displays a host of information such as tachometre, mileage indicator, average speed, top speed, speed display, fuel indication, odometer, and much more. Power in the Aprilia SXR 125 comes from a BS6-compliant 125cc, air-cooled engine developing 9.52bhp and 9.2Nm of peak torque.
