A leopard was spotted in a densely populated locality of Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow on Saturday. The leopard was reportedly captured in a CCTV installed at a private hospital near Gudumba area of Lucknow.
In the CCTV footage, the leopard was seen sitting on the empty street in some moments while on the roof of a house in others. As the news spread, a wave of panic spread amongst the locals of the Paharpur and Kalyanpur areas in Gudumba.
A joint team of Police and forest department reached at the spot after receiving information. Am appeal was made to the locals to stay indoors while the forest and police officials tries to catch the leopard.
After 24 hours of camping to track the big cat, officials received information of leopard hiding in a vacant plot in the locality. The nearby houses to the plot were vacated and a trap was set by the department to capture the leopard.
Though, the leopard managed to fled the plot post to three hours of work by the team. Meanwhile, the reports suggests that three persons including an official of forest department have been injured yet in the process.
As per the locals, a woman named Vinita Rawat and her son were first attacked by the leopard after her son tried to defend themselves by attacking with a brick. Later, the animal also attacked a cop Gyanendra who rushed to save the woman and her.
The three have been hospitalized, while police and forest officials are patrolling the area.
