Lucknow: Former Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan has written a book titled Making a Difference: The IAS as a Career for the future IAS and present bureaucrats which will now be available in the market.
This book will give inspiration as well as energy to the youth who dream of becoming a civil service or say IAS. The book also has a lot to offer to the current bureaucracy. The book ‘Making a Difference: The IAS as a Career’, published by Peguin Books India, was launched at Jaipuria Institute of Management on Sunday. The program was organized by Jayant Krishna, former executive director TCS and former managing director, National Skill Development Corporation, on the occasion of the book launch. Jayant Krishna analyzed his positive experiences with Alok Ranjan and he said that Alok Ranjan worked as a public servant during his service and played an important role in the development of the country and the state.
He said that Ranjan was actually a popular public servant. Two retired Chief Secretaries of Uttar Pradesh Naveen Chandra Bajpai and Atul Gupta, who were present on this occasion, also expressed their views about the IAS service and the working style of Shri Ranjan. Professor Arvind Mohan and Career Counselor Surabhi Sahai of Lucknow University also expressed their views on the role of public servant of the bureaucrat. On this occasion, author Alok Ranjan said that an efficient administrator should always be available to the general public and solve their problems with a positive attitude. This book of his is a source of inspiration for the officers of IAS service and very useful for those students who want to make their career in IAS service.
In this book, Alok Ranjan has given his thoughts about the purpose of appearing in IAS and has also given a Gurumantra for difficult exams like IAS, which will be very useful for the students. He has mentioned how an IAS officer has to face the challenges at all levels of District Administration, State Government and Government of India and how he can contribute to the society in some way. There is much more in the book ‘Making a Difference: The IAS as a Career’ which takes an in-depth look at the Indian bureaucracy which will show a new path to the youths appearing in the Civil Services. Describing about the book, Ranjan said that this book is not his autobiography but is a summary of his administrative experiences of 38 years of long service. On the basis of his administrative experiences, he has placed the mantra of efficient leadership and good governance in front of the reader.
Alok Ranjan says that the true purpose of IAS service is to bring change in the society and an IAS officer should constantly try how and ensure service to the exploited, poor and backward classes and to bring them up the poverty level. does. There are many challenges in front of the bureaucrat and their talent is not fully developed especially due to political interference. The author believes that in the IAS service, the officer should not run after only good posting because every post of the IAS service is such that if the work is done with dedication, integrity and honesty, then the standard of living of every person in the society can be raised.
Describing about the book, Mr. Ranjan, while mentioning the works done during his service, said that I got many works done during my service period, such as the introduction of metro rail, establishment of Ekana stadium, ambulance service, service of dial-100, state I found it most challenging and satisfying to get the 308 kilometer long Agra Expressway completed in 23-24 months in the construction of medical colleges etc. The author believes that the officers of the IAS service should leave their mark in the public mind with their honesty, efficiency and the spirit of public dedication. Every effort should be made in our service that it should be easily available to the citizens and ensure that their problems are resolved. Efforts should be made during the service period that every citizen of the society can get better facilities of living. In this program, former and present IAS officers, writers, journalists and all intellectuals participated and expressed their views about the book.
