Nokia XR20 launched: Key specifications, price, and features

Nokia XR20 is the latest offering from the brand. However, this is unlike any other usual smartphone that we have seen in 2021. It is a rugged device that can withstand rain, dust, shock and more. In addition to that, the Nokia XR20 brings future software support. And that’s the reason why the brand is claiming it a “life-proof” device.

The Nokia XR20 features military-grade protection and is MIL-STD810H-certified to withstand drops from 1.8 meters. Further, the device is IP68 certified and has a Gorilla Glass Victus screen. As far as the software support is concerned, the device will get three years of Android OS and four years of security updates.

The smartphone is powered by an entry-level Snapdragon 480 5G chipset. Besides this, the Nokia XR20 features 48-megapixel dual rear cameras. Dimensions and colours: The Nokia XR20 measures 171.6×81.5×10.6mm and weighs 248 grams. It is offered in two colour options Ultra Blue and Granite Grey.

Display: The device sports a 6.67-inch display with a screen resolution of 1080×2400 pixels. The display has an aspect ratio of 20:9, and the brightness is capped to 550 nits. Further, the panel is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass Victus.

Processor: The Nokia XR20 is powered by Qualcomm’s entry-level 5G chipset, Snapdragon 480. It is an octa-core chipset built on an 8nm manufacturing process. Moreover, the chipset is clocked at 2GHz and paired with Adreno 619 GPU.

Storage and RAM: Nokia has made this smartphone available in a single RAM and storage variant. It gets 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage.

Camera: In the camera department, Nokia XR20 features a dual-camera setup consisting of a 48-megapixel primary shooter and a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens. Whereas on the front, it gets an 8-megapixel shooter for selfies. The video capability of the front camera as well as the rear cameras is capped to 1080p at 30fps. Like most Nokia smartphones, it comes with ZEISS optics. Additional camera features include ZEISS Cinematic Effects, SpeedWarp mode, Action Cam mode, Night mode, Cinema mode, HDR, Beautification and Panorama.

Connectivity and OS: Nokia has promised long term software support for this device, including three years of OS updates and four years of security updates. The device currently runs Android 11. Connectivity options on this device include 5G, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, USB-Type C and a 3.5mm jack. There’s also a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for authentication.

Nokia XR20 India price and availability

The sole 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant of Nokia XR20 is priced at $500, which converts to Rs 40,900. While there’s no word about its availability in India, HMD did confirm it will bring more devices to India this year, including the X-series. So it’s likely that the Nokia XR20 will arrive in India sooner or later.
