Rajasthan Royals pacer Chetan Sakariya lost his father, Kanjibhai Sakariya, to Covid-19 on Sunday, the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise said.Kanjibhai was receiving treatment after contracting the virus at a hospital in Bhavnagar, Gujarat.
Rajasthan Royals said, in a statement, that they are in touch with Chetan Sakariya and promised support to the young left-arm fast bowler from Gujarat. “It pains us so much to confirm that Mr Kanjibhai Sakariya lost his battle with Covid-19 earlier today. We’re in touch with Chetan and will provide all possible support to him and his family in this difficult time,” the Royals said in a statement.
Notably, Chetan Sakariya had to overcome the death of his brother in the lead up to the IPL wherein he made his debut for Rajasthan Royals.
