Tamil Nadu CM Stalin says “We do not oppose Hindi, we impose Hindi imposition”

While speaking in an event honouring ‘Mozhipor’ (War for language) martyrs, CM Stalin stated that when Anna (CN Annadurai) came to power in 1967, he brought in the two language policy and named the state as Tamilnadu due to the outcome of the Mozhipor.

“We are still struggling to amend laws that would facilitate State languages as official languages of the nation,” stated CM Stalin.

“Just because we say Tamil, it doesn’t mean that we are narrow minded. Not only Hindi, but we are not against any language”, stated CM Stalin.

“We don’t oppose Hindi, we only oppose Hindi imposition. We are fond of Tamil and that doesn’t mean we hate another language”, claimed CM Stalin.

He also stated that to learn a language should come as an interest from a person and that it should never be imposed.

“Those who wish to impose Hindi, consider it as a symbol of dominance. Just like they think that there should be only one religion, they think that there should be only one language,” stated CM Stalin.

He alleged that the forces which wish to impose Hindi wish to bring in Hindi-speaking people into all departments and make non-Hindi speakers second class citizens.

“Efforts are being taken to replace one’s mother tongue with Hindi and this is what we oppose. For them, Tamil and Tamil Nadu sound bitter,” claimed CM Stalin.

The Chief Minister also slammed the Union Government for rejecting the Tamil Nadu tableau and claimed that it was deliberately done.
