Tata HBX is expected to be launched just a few days before Diwali to cash in on the bumper sales usually achieved during the festive season.
Tata HBX is expected to run on the same 1.2-litre engine which powers Tata Tiago and Tata Altroz. However, the top model of the Tata HBX could get a turbocharged engine.
If Tata launches the Tata HBX SUV at Rs 5 lakh, then the car would hardly find any competition at what could be a very competitive price point. However, SUVs such as Datsun Go Plus, Renault Triber, Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Mahindra KUV NXT could give Tata HBX a run for its money.
Tata Motors is reportedly planning to launch Tata HBX at a starting price of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh for the base variant while the top model could retail at more than Rs 8 lakh. At first glance, the Tata HBX SUV appears to be a hybrid model of an SUV and hatchback. The car is designed like a compact SUV, according to the leaked images.
