A joint team of special task force and district police, a wanted criminal Jitendra alias Jeet of Hathras was arrested during a checking drive late night on Monday.
The officials said that a police team stopped the criminal, identified as Jitendra on Monday night. He was arrested after a gunfire exchange in which he was injured, they said.
The police have recovered illicit arms, live cartridges, an SUV and three fake arms licenses from Jitendra.
Jitendra is undergoing treatment in a hospital where his condition is stated to be stable, the officials said. The police had been on a look out for him in connection with several cases lodged under Sasni police circle.
