Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro is giving tough competition to OnePlus 9: Read review and price

Credit: Google

Xiaomi introduced the Mi 11X Pro and Mi 11X in India last month along with the more premium flagship Mi 11 Ultra. The last is yet to go on sale in the country but the Mi 11X phones are already available online. I have reviewed the Mi 11X, The Mi 11X Pro comes with similar features but, with better processor and main camera. Xiaomi has launched the phone in two variants both with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM paired with two storage options. The 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs 39,999 and the 256GB storage variant costs Rs 41,999.

The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor which makes it one of the most affordable phones in the country with the flagship chip. The Mi 11X Pro competes with OnePlus 9 and iQOO 7 Legend which come with the same chipset. Since the design, display and a lot of other things remain the same as the Mi 11X, I will not spend much time on those and will talk more about the camera and performance.

Mi 11X Pro review: A recap of everything same as the Mi 11X

The Mi 11X Pro looks exactly same as the Mi 11X. It comes in the same three colour options – Cosmic Black, Lunar White, and Celestial Silver. I had the last colour variant for review which reminded me of peak Johnny Depp one man, so many faces. The Mi 11X Pro changes colours as light falls on it from different directions. The variant certainly looks better than the black variant of the Mi 11X I had for review and also attracts less fingerprint smudges.

It is also one of the sleekest premium phones to have launched in 2021 along with Vivo X60. The phone is only 7.8mm thick and weighs 196 grams. It makes the Mi 11X Pro comfortable to hold and use. However, it is slightly slippery, and you will be better served with a protective case. The Mi 11X Pro is IP53 rated for dust and water resistance.

On the front, you get a 6.67-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and up to 360Hz touch sampling rate. The display supports HDR 10+, MEMC technology and is one of the better panels you can find on an affordable premium smartphone. It is brightness, smooth and vibrant. The sharpness could have been better but is passable.

Mi 11X Pro review: Performance

As I mentioned before, the Mi 11X Pro is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, which makes it one of the most affordable phones with the flagship chipset. The Mi 11X Pro costs almost Rs 8,000 less than the OnePlus 9 which uses the same chipset and that’s an achievement for Xiaomi, especially in the times when there is a global chip shortage.

Mi 11X Pro review: Camera

One thing that really disappointed me with the Mi 11X was its camera performance. That is a very good phone at around Rs 30,000 but the main camera, specifically lets you down. That isn’t the case with the Mi 11X Pro which also makes it a superb affordable premium phone.

Mi 11X Pro review: Battery

I am not sure if it is Xiaomi’s optimisation or Qualcomm’s processor but, the Mi 11X Pro runs out of battery really fast. It packs a 4520 mAh battery which is similar to OnePlus 9. Yet, there were days when I had to charge the Mi 11X Pro before the end of the day. That too with medium usage which involved a bit of streaming and gaming.
