India’s hopes in archery are now over. Atanu Das lost to Takaharu Furukama of Japan 4-6 in the men’s quarterfinals of the Tokyo Olympics. Das could not score 10 even once in the 5th set and the score of 8 was heavy on him.

India’s hopes rested on Atanu Das after the world’s number one archer Deepika Kumari lost in the quarterfinals. Das failed to beat Takaharu Furukama, the Japanese archer who won the 2012 Olympics silver medal and bronze in the team event here, after defeating London Olympics gold medalist O Jin Hyek in the previous match.
