करोड़पति कुत्ते : इस गाँव का हर कुत्ता है करोड़पति

अगर आपसे कोई पूछे कि किसी ऐसे कुत्ते के बारे में जानते हैं जो करोड़पति हो, तो आप का जवाब यही होगा कि कुत्ते कैसे करोड़पति हो सकते हैं। लेकिन ये सच है, गुजरात के महेसाणा से कुछ दूरी पर एक गाँव है पांचोट, यहां के कुत्ते जन्म से ही करोड़पति होते हैं। यह कुत्ते किसी अमीर मालिक के पालतू नहीं बल्कि गलियों में घूमने वाले आवारा कुत्ते हैं, जिनकी संख्या 1 या 2 नहीं बल्कि 70 है।

अब आप सोच रहे होंगे कि कुत्ते कैसे करोड़पति हैं, तो आइये हम आपको बताते हैं कि यहां का हर कुत्ता कैसे करोड़पति है। इस गांव में सदियों पुरानी परंपरा है कि अपने नाम की कुछ जमीन जानवरों के सरंक्षण के लिए दान की जाए। इस गांव में एक ट्रस्ट है, जिसका नाम है माढ की पाटी कुतरिया ट्रस्ट। इसके माध्यम से कुत्तों को पाला जाता है। लोग इस ट्रस्ट को अपनी जमीन या खेत दान में देते हैं। अब तक इस ट्रस्ट के पास 28 बीघा जमीन हो चुकी है। कुछ जमीनों पर दुकान आदि बना दिए गए हैं, जिसकी इनकम से कुत्तों के लिए भोजन की व्यवस्था की जाती है। अगर गांव के कुत्तों की संख्या और उनके नाम की सम्पत्ति का लेखा-जोखा किया जाए, तो एक कुत्ते के नाम पर 3 करोड़ की सम्पत्ति है।

An informal village trust, known as ‘Madh ni Pati Kutariya Trust,’ holds about 21 bigha of land. So the land is not really in the dogs’ names. But the entire income from the land — from annual auction for farming — is set aside for the dogs. The land price near the bypass today is, on an average, Rs 3.5 crore per bigha. Therefore, the 70-odd dogs benefiting from the trust could easily have more than Rs 1crore. Chhaganbhai Patel, the president of the trust, said that the concept of ‘kutariyu’ (setting aside for the dogs) has origins in the village’s long history of #jivdaya (compassion for animals). The tradition embodying Madh ni Pati Kutariya Trust started with richer families donating, for charity, a piece of land that was not easy to maintain, said Chhaganbhai Patel, the president of the trust. "At that time land did not cost much," he said. "In a few cases, land was donated as the owners could not afford to even pay tax and the donation shifted the responsibility." A group of Patel farmers — notably Prabha Lallu, Chatur Viha, Amtha Kalu and Lakha Sheth — started the administration of the land about 70 to 80 years ago. Patel said that almost all the land came to the trust at least 70 years ago. However, as Panchot developed and land prices rose over the past decades or so, land donations have stopped. As for the land that has been transferred, there is no formal documentation and land records still reflect the name of the original owner. "None of the land owners has ever come back to reclaim their share, irrespective of their financial condition." देखते ही देखते करोड़पति हो गए कुत्ते

यहां के कुत्ते हमेशा से करोड़पति नहीं थे। इन कुत्तों के कारण महेसाणा शहर का विकास हुआ। पांचोट गांव के करीब से शहर का बायपास रोड निकला और रातो-रात लाखों की जमीन की कीमत करोड़ों की हो गई। उधर देखते ही देखते गली के कुत्ते भी करोड़पति हो गए।

गाँव वाले करते हैं ज़मीन की देखभाल

यहां के ट्रस्ट में गांव के लोग ही जमीन की देखभाल करते हैं। खेती से पैदा हुए अनाज की बिक्री से इनकम, बिल्डिंग या दुकानों के रूप में किराए से आने वाली आय का उपयोग कुत्तों पर ही किया जाता है। कुत्तों को केवल रोटी ही नहीं, बल्कि लड्डू भी खिलाया जाता है।

गाँव वालों ने निर्णय लिया है कि अगर करोड़पति कुत्तों के नाम की जमीन की कीमत बढ़कर अरबों भी हो जाएगी, तो भी उसे बेचा नहीं जाएगा। दान की हुई यह जमीन आखिर तक कुत्तों के नाम पर ही रहेगी। उसमें खेती होगी अवश्य, पर उससे होने वाली आवक का उपयोग फिर कुत्तों की भलाई के लिए ही किया जाएगा।
